Cytocentrics Bioscience GmbH is an Award Winner in the „365 Places in the Land of Ideas” Competition

Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Olaf Scheel receives the signed certificate from the Federal President

Rostock, April 13, 2011 – Cytocentrics Bioscience GmbH located in Rostock is one of the 15 award winners from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the “365 Places in the Land of Ideas” competition. At a ceremonious reception held in Schwerin, the Head of the State Chancellery, Reinhard Meyer, handed over the certificates to the award winners. “I am elated that Cytocentrics Bioscience GmbH has been awarded one of the coveted prizes from a total of about 2600 participants. This underlines the innovative strength of our company with its trend-setting products and services for the pharmaceuticals industry and university institutions”, said Olaf Scheel, who received the award on behalf of Cytocentrics Bioscience GmbH.

Cytocentrics Bioscience GmbH was honoured with the award for its developments in laboratory automation. “The CytoPatch™ Instrument automates the otherwise very complicated and time-consuming manual patch clamping technology and is able to detect potential side effects at an early stage. The CytoPatch™ Instrument, however, can do much more - it even allows the examination of LGICs that are difficult to measure, representing the top class of the ion channels”, explains Olaf Scheel.

On 25th October, 2011 Cytocentrics Bioscience GmbH will celebrate its idea with a ”Day of Patch Clamping” and showcase itself to the public, partners and clients on the occasion of the 1oth company anniversary. Events planned for the day include a journey through time of the company’s history, guided tours through laboratories and a presentation of the CytoPatch™ Instruments.
